The right LiFePO4 battery is one that fits your RV, loads and charging equipment. Two batteries advertised with the same amp-hour capacity can have different current limits, installation requirements and support terms. Use the same questions for every model on your shortlist.
Build a comparison you can use
- Energy and fit: record nominal voltage, amp-hours, dimensions, weight and the usable capacity described in the manual. Check clearance for terminals, mounting and service access.
- Current limits: separate continuous discharge, short surge capability and maximum charge current. Ask whether these limits support your largest appliance combination.
- Temperature: look for separate charging and discharging ranges. Confirm whether cold-charge protection, heating and temperature sensing are included, optional or external.
- Expansion: find the exact rules for connecting multiple batteries. Permission to parallel a model does not automatically mean it may be connected in series.
- System integration: identify any external BMS, communication cable, display or approved charger the proposed setup needs.
Read the manual before the offer
Use documents for the exact part number. A heated version, smart version and base version may not share every feature. Manufacturer manuals also explain storage, operating limits and what to do after a protective shutdown. The linked document libraries are starting points for comparison, not a tested ranking or endorsement.
Ask what happens after installation
Get the warranty terms and the name of the business handling a claim. Ask who pays for diagnosis, removal, shipping and reinstallation, and how replacement stock is handled while you are traveling. Keep the model numbers and warranty answers with your quote so you can compare the total installed arrangement.
If you have not estimated your energy use yet, start with RV battery planning. If you already have a shortlist, bring it to an RV power specialist for a compatibility review.
